How to fit Octura & other
3/16 Propellers to Kit Boats like Kyosho & Cen Racing
Most of the better propellers come
in 3/16" shaft sizes. But most Kit boats use 4mm shafts. There is a
quick & easy fix for this. Go to the local hobby shop and look for a
piece of 3/16th outside diameter, K&S Engineering Brass tubing,
stock# 129. The cost about $1-$2 dollars. We also stock them here at
OSE (click
here for info). Cut it to the required length and use it as your
sleeve. Since the tubing comes in one foot lengths you will have
plenty extra, so cut a few more while your at it. Incase one gets
lost at the pond during a prop change.

How to Adapt a 3/16" prop to a
1/8" Shaft.
The same as above can be done to fit 3/16"
propellers to 1/8" shafts. You will need a piece of #128 5/32" K&S
tubing and one piece of #129 K&S tubing. Measure the
prop hub minus the length of the
drive dog slots and cut a piece of 5/32 and 3/16" tubing that
length. Slide the 5/32 into the 3/16 and you have your finished
adapter. This is optional if you want the two piece not to ever come
apart. Apply a small dab of CA glue to the outside of the 5/32
tubing. Quickly slide the 3/16" tubing over the 5/32". Give it some
time to dry and your done. |
