Kyosho Jet Stream 800 Electric
Pictures & Information provided by Dong Garcia
The good thing about this hull is
it's hull strength. The hull is 31.5" long and made of ABS plastic.
Its very thick ABS for an electric powered boat. So thick that
installing a nitro engine on its even a possibility.
The kit comes with a single motor reduction gear assembly,
which is very tough! I like it! A modified motor down to 13turns
will do good. The gear unit also has the capability to run twin 05
motors. You can see this is one on the pictures.
The bad thing is it's weight. Considering that this is an
electric powered boat, weight is all that matters to gain speed and
agility.
Another thing that took my time perfecting was the drive
train & out drive unit. It requires plenty of attention to center
and align the universal joint relative to the hinge-point of the
rudder. Take good notice of this! The goal is to minimize friction
when the rudder is in full steer to either left or right. This will
maximize running time and cornering speed.
Suggested Modifications
Replace the bushings on the shafts that
rotates the prop! This will
maximize efficiency for longer running time.
Background on
Dong Garcia.
He is a 28 year old video editor from Quezon City,
Manila, Philippines.
Born there and proud to be a Filipino.
He has been in the hobby for 7 years, started out with
electric cars
and hardly touched a nitro car...
He runs his boats in a nearby pond. Well, not exactly a
pond, but a building foundation that has been abandoned, and water
filled up the 36foot excavation in the recent years that it has been
left useless.
