Kyosho Wave Chopper
Pictures & Information provided by Dong Garcia

Length: 19.7 in (500mm)
Width: 9.1 in (230mm)

auto cut-off & D31 x P1.4 prop

The good thing about this hull is it's light weight construction. The light weight of the hull makes it an advantage that even the lamest motor can propel the boat in speed that makes plenty of running time and agility.

The bad thing about it is, if and when vibration occurs and is not immediately noticed and remedied, the ABS hull may crack due to the constant vibration. I am afraid to use a modified motor for it for a long time, as per previous reason, otherwise if maximum speed is desired, the owner must strengthen the hull in critical areas. Watch out not to hit the "very long" rudder from underwater obstacles, or when running in shallow water. REMEMBER!! it is not jet propelled, it has a submerged propeller.

Suggested Modifications

Another low-point area of the Wave Chopper is the motor mount. The aluminum braces which hold the screws easily loosens when tightened. Also, the lateral support that holds the motor from the left and right sides of the hull, may seem to be prone to vibration damage. A few modification is required if high-output motor is desired to be used.

 Assemble Tips

On the prop shaft and tube, I suggest to apply grease only o the end which is submerged in water, put oil on the rest. Too much grease will thicken, and will become a resistance to the rotating shaft.

Background on Dong Garcia.
He is a 28 year old video editor from Quezon City, Manila, Philippines. Born there and proud to be a Filipino.

He has been in the hobby for 7 years,  started out with electric cars
and hardly touched a nitro car...

He runs his boats in a nearby pond. Well, not exactly a pond, but a building foundation that has been abandoned, and water filled up the 36foot excavation in the recent years that it has been left useless.
