    Big flag

On Sunday while dumping my trash,I saw some red and white stripes in the dumpster, pulled it out and it was a huge 9x5 flag. It is now hanging on my shed. What kind of person would throw a flag in a dumpster?

I have seen it before. When I was in scouts we were told that if an american flag touches the ground it was to be burned. Not totally sure why but that may be the reason someone disposed of it.. I would never throw out an American flag. Let it fly!

If your flag needs to be retired, it should be disposed of in a dignified manner with all due respect. Section 8k of the Flag Code states: “The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”
