    Help for big-ish, slow boat/cooler...

As it turned out fast RC boats just wasn't my thing. Thanks again to everyone for their help, though!

Now...however...I have a new 'project' in mind. I do 1:1 boating, and most every weekend includes several hours at party cove - parked and swimming calm water. I would like to build/buy a 'big', slow (about walking speed) boat to use as a mobile cooler that could hold about a 6 pack with some ice.

I was even thinking about using my current cooler (it floats) and building an outrigger type PVC frame around it with motors. Not sure...

    Ideas?

Net idea... I like the PVC frame around a/the cooler with pool noodle to allow it to float on its own. Then maybe one of these would work? Kit is cheap, but you still need to buy the running components...

I like that tug - at least the idea of it.

I have no idea what motor/steering setup to try to use with something like this. Maybe I could even just attach a motor directly to a cooler?

        I like this one...lol
you could pull it with a tug or
mount a electric outboard to it.

The same site I posted has everything you need to build... Hardware Kit, Motors, Controllers, etc... It's a one stop shop!

Is there a "low cost" electric outboard for large/heavy/slow boats?

you would probably have to use a low kv
outrunner on a K&B outboard lower leg.

Did a little looking on outboard. That looks semi-pricey for this little novelty. I could run a brushed 540-550 submerged, couldn't I?

I have heard of guys running brushed motors
submerged but I have never tried it.

Good grief, instead of overthinking this....I should just get that twin tug kit and make it push a cooler around.

EDIT: actually this is more what I need. My cooler already floats, so this would be PERFECT. http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...910#post654910

ya that would work too. just make sure you put some
kind of guard around the prop so somebody doesn't get
their fingers or other body parts in the prop.

Submerged won't work. Water is not very pure. Lots of grit and other dissolved calcium to get into the bearings and screw them up. Just hire a hot chick to deliver it in a raft.

I have a boat...which means no money for hot chick. I'm really thinking the recovery system like Diegoboy made would be just absolutely perfect. I'm trying to come up with the parts list to duplicate his power/hardware setup. Unless one of you guys has enough spare parts to make one that I could buy! I want to do brushed...

Heeeyy. What do you guys think about pirating the power system from this? http://www.walmart.com/ip/Motorized-...-Boat/49961703
