    Looking to purchase a good 4s 5000mah 50 c lipo

Hi all looking to buy a good 4s 5000 mah 50c lipo's for my 4s rigger's and mono hull . Awhile back purchased 2- Team Great hobbies 5000mah 50c lipo's packs never exceded 105 f temp and never discharged more than 2000mah and never charged with more than a 5 amp charge rate, noticed after about 25 cycles the lipo's started to puff up a fair amount .What would be a good replacement lipo ? Should i be looking at a higher than 50c rating?. What is a fair price for a 4s 5000 mah lipo. After lipo.s start to puff up at what point would they become unsafe to use them? Regards Andris Golts.

I have been using Revolectrixs and they have been not only awesome but reliable. They are also well priced and can handle some of the most rigorous running that you will encounter. Performance picked up in each of my boats after switching to these and I love them. I have a coupon code for you to use that will get you 10% off as well, just type in TAMON14 and you can save a little more cash. There are numerous threads on batteries on here with testing and all. The Revolectrix thread will show you how highly thought of these batteries are by the members on the forum.

Take Care and Enjoy the link I provided below!

I second Revoletrix. If you don’t want the Revos for some reason the SPC packs I have are also fantastic. I recommend those as well.

Did you mean SMC?? If so i will second that. I bought a pair of smc,s to try this season and they are fantastic. Best balance of any pack i,ve owned and tons of power. They will be the only batteries i will buy as long as I can get them to physically fit in my hulls.

To be honest they are really good batteries but for the same price you can get revolectrix and they are even better. I sold all of my other name brand batteries and bought revolectrix. ...they are that good.

^^^^^^^^^^^ Don't expect them to be 70C (what they say they are) batteries and you might be happy with them.^^^^^^^^^^

You could taking your batteries back to great hobbies and show them they puffed see if they will do anything about it. I ran one in my rigger this summer with no puffing yet my two dinogy are showing signs of puffing in the same boat. I know that doesn't help you find batteries for your boat but it seems when the question gets asked for every different battery out there you will find somebody that has good luck running them and will swear there the best. I do have some 40c Revolectix the ran fine to and get them here fedex was easy.

Here's a data log from taken from a boat running 4200mah 70C Revo HV427 packs. At 370A, this is 88C, and voltage dropped to a minimum of 3.46v/cell, which is the best I have seen under this level of stress. These lipos are still in my lipo bag and have absolutely no signs of puffing or other distress. Granted, this level of current is only realized for a few seconds, but at 128 mph, that's long enough for me. 70C discharge is absolutely possible from these lipos, but I wouldn't recommend attempting 70C "constant" (throughout the lipos entire discharge cycle) with any lipos. Actually, I think it's best not to run ANY components at or above their rated max for long periods.

Maybe they were going to call them 65C and changed their minds at some point? Who knows...quite odd that the inside label doesn't match the outside.
