expanding foam is not the ideal way, it could deform your hull. Why not use the proven method of using pool noodles? You can pull them out if need be and clean the hull or work on the hull. Expanding foam is going to be a b1tch trying to remove.

And foam can allow moisture to stay trapped in the hull due to poor ventillation. Which may end up causing mold problems in time.

Use "Great Suff", low expansion foam.......only do a small section at a time,,,let cure 24 hours and repeat over several days until the cavity is full...

Do not try and do the whole cavity at once!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This will add all the flotation you will need, at the same weight of pool noodles AND will add strength to the hull,,which pool noodles DO NOT.

Westbeach has the right answer. USE POOL NOODLES! I NEVER use expandable foam in a hull. Well, I shouldn't say never. Lots of years ago I destroyed a hull with Great Stuff!

You used to much at once...period.

I have seen pool noodles make it back to shore minus the boat they were supposed to keep afloat after several collisions!

This is what I use. Like Doby said, do a little at a time. The stuff is great on hatches!!!

LOL Doby! How bad were these collisions? I guess the pool noodles had enough banging around and decided to flee to the boat.

One guy T Boned a flipped DF in the open mono class and cracked the hull of the flipped boat right in half.

Everything went to the bottom.....................except for the pool noodles which made it safely back to shore.

Ironically, the same guy is using the same noodles in his new boat.............slow learner apparently.....

That's what I use now when noodles are not convenient. This foam is great! It will NOT bust your hull like Great Stuff will. No matter what though if using expanding foam. there has to be a relief hole for the excess to come out!

DUH! Ever hear of glueing the noodles in? Jeeez.

Does anyone know what glue will bond to the pool noodles? I tried a epoxies, costruction adhesive and never did find anything that would hold strong.

BTW - I also ran a bead of foam down the sides of my Sniper to strengthen the gunnel and seam (recommeded be Socalbill) The stuff takes a minute or two to expand so you can do that with it.

                          RTV or silicone sealant does.

CA will hold it as well as silicone.

If you do use "Great Stuff" get the version that has a limited expansion. Still do a little at a time, make sure its low expansion stuff!
