    Problem with ZIPPY Flightmax 5000mAh 3S1P 30C

    Hello,

I bought at Hobby King two Zippy Flightmax 5000mAh 3S1P 30C and never used them.

One of the two Zippy Flightmax have a problem : one cell is inflated , here' s a picture.

    How can I proceed? Thanks

How long have you had the cells?
I would contact them and send them your picture for an attempt at replacement. After that your best bet is to tear the pack apart and see if you can salvage the good cells. This is a good example of why I don't trust there batteries. I have seen a few reports of Zippy/Turnigy/Rhino showing up with a bad cell right out of the box.

I will send an e-mail to HKwith the picture. I bought them a set of Turnigy 4500mAh and a set of Flightmax 5000mAh. Only one cell is inflated but this not my fault.
Do you have experience with HK support?

They are usually prety good about support it just takes awhile because it's in China.

A swollen or "Puffed" lipo is bad bad bad.....

The lipos contain chemicles that react with one another. The reaction is controlled.
This reaction can cause amperage in excess of 100 amps.People weld with much less.
When the containment process starts to break down=Puffing, well,it's up to you....

No,I would not use lipo's that Puff

Lipo Fires,I dug this up over at RC Groups someone has documented Lipo fires by causes.

Charging puffed cell causes it to ignite (93)
Charging slightly swelled pack causes fire (83)

Yes, there's a support link on the top of the HK home page

But and it's a big But, I found this

The problem is that Zippy Flightmax LiPo is new, no charge and no discharge. I' ve got five other batteries but only this one looks dangerous
I hope that HobbyKing will do something
