    flex collet

Does anyone make a flex collet for a 5mm motor shaft to a 1/4" flex cable. I searched everywhere and all I can find is 6mm and up to 1/4".

In general, if the motor has a 5mm shaft, then I don't see why you would need anything bigger than a .187 (3/16) cable...what exactly are you trying to get together?

It's a 42" abs gasser hull that I'm converting to electric. All of the hardware is 1/4" so I don't really want to get all new hardware.

Probably the easiest way to get 'er done soon, other then having Jeff make you one, is to purchase the 6mm to .250 flex collet and shim it with some steel stock. A set of metric feeler gauges will have a .5mm section of steel material. Cut it down and shape it. Slide it inside the coupler and install. It will work for awhile but its not a permanent fix.

Couldn't you just add a 3/16" bearing sleeve inside your 1/4" strut and just use .187 flex and 5mmX.187 coupler?

          one of these.... http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...s-spds-014-bsf

Well I can make one if need be, I'm a cnc programmer at a development company in SoCal, so I have several machines at my disposal. I was hoping someone already made one though.

If I wanted to use a smaller cable I would have to use a bushing on the strut and prop, get a new drive dog, replace the stuffing tube and liner and basically redo the entire drive system instead of just getting a $15 flex collet. Doesn't make much sense to me.

I'll probably just end up getting one of these and the 6mm collet if I can't find a 5mm collet.
