    These batteries any good?

at the bottom of the page they have some 3 cell 3200 mah packs and 4000 mah packs for resonable prices. they are only 18 c, but with the high mah do you think they would be ok to run as only a 3 cell with a 100 amp esc and 3500kv motor with a x430 prop?

They only have a 12 to 18c rating. Not enough for boats. When it comes to lipo and marine apps...there are no short cuts .

what do you recomend? 20c or 25? I'm not really trying to short cut, I thought that 57 continious amps would be enough for the 3200 mah 3 cell, and the price is good.

20 is the lowest I'd go really. The 57 amps may be good enough but you have no room for unforseen issues. If you get the prop bound up in grass or have something binds in the drive line it's bye bye to your pack. I learned a hard lesson buying the lower cost packs from over seas. You may catch a 10 to 15 dollar break with a sale but when it comes no name or aircarft packs I just wouldnt risk it . Look up Mr Hill or BattlePack on the forum here. His prices are more than fair:).

Boats draw incredible amps at startup...much more than airplanes, cars, etc. You need LOTS of capacity in that battery to handle it. 20C is the absolute minimum. In my experience, batteries rated lower than 20C these days are rejects that wouldn't hold up to the testing at the factory. So they are downgraded and sold at cheap prices. No disrespect to the company selling them, but I wouldn't use them in boats. Just my opinion.

when you guys say you would not use cheap batterys is that for racing or sport. i ask because i use cheap ones with good results but i do know the batts set the limits. my spending in rc is a little at a time all the time! cheap things keep me going.

Cheap packs may be just fine in certine RC things. The but comes in when your talking about things that pull big amps. You will burn a cheap pack up or it cant really do the job and just gets by.. If you want performace, it comes from good and more expensive packs. This not up debate... heheh

                    reply to ice

ice i pull prob 50 amps from cheap junk (some would say) i am sure my boat would be a lot faster for longer. but now all i can afford on this part of my hobby is cheapo! if you sell high end stuff and its good soon enough you will get my money but dont tell me i need to buy it to play. such as you dont need lipo or brushless to go fast. if i started with anything other thing than cheap my fun would have ended long ago burning things up not because things were cheap but because i didnt know what i was doing.soon or later i will have the best of everything maybe thats where you are but not me.

The main thing is to have fun! If you're doing that, you are a success!
