    Best motor for 1040mm Genesis

I am slightly confused as to which kv Leopard 4082 motor to use in my Genesis. I have a SeaKing 180 esc, X442, x642, x645 and x437/3 props to choose from, 3/16" upgrade shaft and 4s 4,500 mah nano 25-50c packsin parallel as well as 3s 5000mah 40c packs in series to use. I have a Pursuit 4074 2150kv on 6s, Seaking 180 esc and x642 which does 60mph but I notice many Genesis are using a lower kv around 1600, is this what I should be buying. I have looked at the kv/cell chart so I believe I am in the ballpark.

6S packs? where are you putting them? on the top of the hull with duct tape?
I run the turnigy 4074 2000KV on 5S and its fine, however I run mine in the lake, and its rare to actually get it up to full speed, would have been better to stick with 4S on 2200KV, not as much weight in the hull, handles better etc

6s packs do fit in the sponsons, but you want to hold them in well as they destroy the hull in a 60+mph crash moving around, ask me how I know lol. A lot of guys have used 4000mah packs as well. Is this a sport boat or you are looking for some top speed runs? Might help some of the more educated offer you some application specific advise.

2150kv and you're only getting 60mph? You should be able to do that with 1600kv, which is about the highest kv I would reccomend for sport running on 6s. 1600kv @ 6s with your 642 prop will come pretty close to maxing out that ESC. You are either running a tiny prop on your pursuit, or you are far exceeding the controller's max rated load.

The 2200kv Leopard motor would be perfect for 4s.

I like to run my boats for quick top speeds and little run time so I will probably want to run 6s most of the time.

So which is it? You want to run 6s, which are meant for your pursuit, or 4s? Your not very clear mate. 6s/5000mah are a very tight fit!

Ive got 5000mah 5S packs in my genesis, and they JUST fit in the hull.
having said that, if you had a twin drive genesis, you could fit the packs in the middle of the hull instead and might have enough room.
If you want I can take pics, becuase it would suck to buy $70 batteries each and find you cant use them

He said two 3S lipos in series. They will fit quite nicely. I agree with Keith, the 1600kv on 6S would be about tops. Watch your temps when you prop up.

My guess is that your motor or batteries cant handle the current draw brought on by trying to spin a x642 at such high RPMs. If it could, you would be going faster than 60. Right now you are just overstressing components when you really don't need to.

                            Here's a 1600kv motor on 6s with a prather 220 (less load than your x642 and much less RPM). 36" boat, 60MPH.

FWIW, This setup pulled around 150A with the s220 and as high as 188A with a s225.

To give you another example, here's a boat with 2200kv motors on 5s. It's a twin, so that helps, but it's still substantially less RPM than your pursuit and this boat went 74MPH. Props were x442s.
