    Balaenoptera Musculus. Sealing the hatch?

Hey, guys! So, these Musculus boats are almost watertight out of the box, BUT they have a fairly major gap at the back of the hatch cuz it gets all curvy. Here's a pretty good picture of what I am talking about. http://www.nauticaldecorworld.com/hms-az-b-18.html . I have tried rubber weatherstripping, which works ok, but is there a better, more permanent, more effective way to seal those gaps in the back of the hatch, but still be able to open/close the hatch comfortably? Thx in advance for all responses!

Most tape their hatches, its simple & very affective but you do have to remove the tape for access into the boat. Something most are prepared to do to get a 100% seal on the hatch.
