    air dam???

So I did some searching. Didn't come up with much. I was thinking about putting an air dam on my cheetah. Why? I HATE blow overs and if this will help. ... I'm all for it. I havent had one yet as I just got this thing in the water. .... but it's coming once I get this thing lined out. What my question is. .. has anyone done this on a cheetah and what was the outcome? How far back in the tunnel should I put it? I already got a short length of wiper blade and attached double sided tape to it. Thanks

All I can say is we do put air dams on some hydro's and the affect of it is usually quite stunning in a good way. Really kills the lift. The easy way to do it without over committing is to tape a piece of water line tubing a few inches back on the hull and run the boat. The affect is it disrupts the air flow and kills the lift the hydro is generating. Really will make a huge difference. On a Cat, I have no idea what the effect is(if any), but you could tape a piece of tubing under there and see what happens. If it does nothing, just pull it off.

Use a wind shield wiper, 1 inch from the front on the bottom and also some blokes in germany are using them 1 inch from both the bottom and top. The attached picture isnt mine, just one I saved as I am currently building mine

Thanks. Does it help yours or have you run it yet? Correct me if I'm wrong but yours in that pic looks further back than an inch?

I haven't set mine up yet, Yeah I was advised an inch, but that pic looks about 2-3 inches. If I were you id just tack it in place with 2 dots of quick set. See how it goes.
I will be doing a zig zag patten the whole way on the bottom of my Cheetah, just try different things out.. I am trying to break the 75mph barrier so I will be trying a few different things to prove to people this can be a fast hull.

                      Heya Kfx :-) .

I've got an airdam on my UL-1 hydro, Electric is right, it really kills lift but it sure helps keep the nose down. I used a piece of 1/2" aluminum angle from homer depot. I cut it down to fit snug between the sponsors. I used the thin servo tape to anchor it, then used hatch tape to cover gap between hull & dam, front and rear, trimmed with an x-acto and it works great.

I just tape a large drinking straw to the bottom of my 1/10 shovelnose and that works really well. Don't need much to break up the airflow.

Well I tried it out today. Flipped out the water several times. It's probably how high I have my prop angled. I should have tried before and after. Maybe I'll do that next weekend.

                              Heres a vid

What seemed to help the most was moving the batteries up towards the front. I still need to come down a little on the prop angle.
