Hi
Semi truck boat trailer
My name is Henrik Andreasen from Gotheburg in Sweden, living in US Charleston SC at the moment.
I have been into the RC hobby for the last 40 years, mostly boats and cars.
I have always fund a lot of help in the boat forums Hydroworld and Offshore Electric Forum. But have contributed very little.
There is so much noledge in the forums, and I always find the answers to my questions in them.
Thank you everybody :O)
I have been looking for a tractor truck trailer for my fast RC boats in a while, but haven't found any.
My idea was to show my RC boats with a tractor truck, so you could see the approximate scale of them.
The standard Tamiya tractor truck 1/14 scale, is about the same as some of the best electric RC boats, i.e. the HPR 115 and the Genesis catamaran from TFL
So I have designed and built my own. It's an "old school" build made with a small bench drill, hand saw and hand files.
It is completly stainless, so it possible to lanch the boat from the trailer in to the water.
The materials is standard aluminium profiles and sheets from stores like Homedepot and Lowes with stainless steel bolts.
No welding or soldering is used. Everything is possible to disassemble.
The "hydralics" are simple aluminium rods etc. and is not working.
The only thing I have bought is the wheels, bumper and the small ladder.
The trailer has 2 different positions. A transport position where the boat is tilted, and a launch position.
On the pictures you may see the trailer with my Genesis catamaran and my HPR 115 catamaran.
The trailer is working realy well and stabil. The boats are 3-5 mm away from the trailer when tilted so the don't get scratches.
The trailer is 48 inch long, 7.5 inch wide and weights 7 pounds.
It's tested with + 60 pounds.
The semi is a 1/14 Freightliner Cascadia from Tamiya.
I hope you all like it.
