Quick question, I need to do reconstructive surgery on an ABS plastic hull and need to know what to use. I will need to do fiberglass work (if it will stick) and find a source for a good filler that is sandable. The end result will be primed and painted. At least the boat didn't sink. Thanks for any help. Jeff

My scale boat club uses a trick for the filler part of your question.
You can fill small gaps with instant CA by putting some baking soda in the gap and then dripping the glue into it. Don't try to make large fillets, however, because the glue will not penetrate too deeply into the powder, and you'll have a thin shell of solidified glue over a core of baking soda powder. It is also easily sandable"A quick temper will make a fool of you soon enough."

You can also put a small patch on the inside of FG cloth with CA and then fill from the outside with some sqaudron putty or basic spot putty from a auto shop or even walmart has it.
This is if you can to to the inside of the hull area.Comment

Thanks for the advice. I might even try to use the hull as a mold and glass the bottom to make a fiberglass hull. I know this would be a lot of work but wonder if anyone has tried it? I would glass the hull first, then the deck, join the two and still retain the plastic hatch. Maybe buying a new hull sounds better. Anyone tried the aeromarine mean machine cat?Comment

Probably the number 1 selling cat for FE with great speed and handling.Comment

to repair ABS, the best I've ever seen is this... take a camera film can (you know those little black plastic cylinder) put some aceton and some pieces of ABS in it wait till it turns into a "goo", apply this goo with a brush in succesive thin layer or with a serynge to dispense where needed!Comment
