    Whats a good mini to get a kid?

    I want to get two mini boats. One for my 6 year old son and one for me or one of his friends to use. He is pretty capable with a rc car and is always asking to drive my boats. He is not quite ready for a SAW setup .

    Whats a good mini to get?

    I'm looking at the STRX 9, $48 on amazon and the impulse 9, $83 on amazon. Any other suggestions. Is the Impulse worth the extra coin.

          Impulse 9 or black jack 9. That's what I got my 4 year old. He just turned 5 last week. He loves it.

              I was thinking about the Barbwire but that would be $300 for two Barbwire boats verse $100 for two STRX 9 boats. I want to get two so he can run with a friend or I can run with him. I want to keep it fun and interesting for him.

              Is the STRX worth it or will it break and/or sink right out of the box? I suppose I could do two Barbwire boats but that would limit his and his friends freedom of use with the boats. If I keep it cheap and small I can take them out on our boat to use while at anchor or to the lake when we go camping. I want something reliable but small enough for easy transport and cheap enough for him to bash with his friends.

                  I like the Impulse 9 even though it cost more and I trust the company to stand behind the product.

                      Have you considered a FT009? You can buy a pair from Tmart for less than $115, shipped from New Jersey. They have 540 brushed motors and are great for bashing. Check out the youtube vids.

                          Hobbytown sells a Helion Lagos Sport, fast little suckers and they have an auto flip feature incase you flip it, so you dont have to go retrieve it. My only suggestion is to be sure to stuff it with styrofoam, including the hull topper.... I sank one, lol. But they at $55 with 80 size brushed motor.

                                  Mini Rio is pretty cool, my 10 year old has one. M645 vote is still for the impulse/blackjack 9 tho. Add a $6 lipo battery and it's fun.

                                      I love the Impulse 9. Its got good top speed and its small enough to run in the pool. Great little boat!

                                          IMO; Impulse 9 , black jack 9, or maybe Miss Geico 17. I do not have a Barb wire but from what I have read it may be to fast for him and some have had problems. all IMO; Don
