i bought a prop from dasboata and deff noticed a diffrence, but today i hit something in the water and damaged it. i wonder how the stainless steel one from doctorprops compares. i would think that its stronger but i haven't seen any comparison reviews. Its from the ukraine though but they ship worldwide 7 bucks it says 15-30 days.
Well I'm not going to wait that long and want to keep my business local as possible I'm ordering another dasboata propLast edited by jhurlbert; 06-08-2019, 08:36 PM. -
I am curious on this one too, it seems to be a big secret on what props are fast and what props are great at cornering and acceleration. I mean I know the difference between a 2 vs. 3 blade. What I am referring to as a secret is the actual prop models and manufacturers that people are running to achieve their flaunted performance.Comment

It's no secret what prop I run to go the speed mine does. It's the dasboata "Supersonic prop" we call it. Hit him up and he will sell you one or put you on the waiting list for one if they are out of stock. [email protected] is the best way to reach him.

Lol.. I dont mean flaunt in a negative way.. sorry if I implied negativity. Also, I dont mean you. You have stated multiple times where urs came from. I inquired to Chris about 2 props for my previously stated intentions. He then sent me an invoice for 110 for 2 props shipped. I'll pay it when I can swallow the sticker shock ( a.k.a. get a prepaid Visa card to hide the purchase from my wife) hopefully this coming week. I guess I am just use to the surface guys who post and share every detail of their builds and specs of parts used. The boating world seems to be more secretive with their setups. Is a "custom prop" made from scratch? Doubt it.. if I had to guess it's a 20.00 prop that been sharpened/balanced maybe polished too? I'm not sure..Comment

The "best" prop for this boat depends entirely on your performance expectations and from the videos I have studied I came to the conclusion that this boat is too over powered and does not perform very well right out of the box without a lot of fine tuning. My preference is to have a setup that allows for fast oval runs on 6s without the boat bouncing or flipping all over the place uncontrollably so I opted for a lower pitch prop in an effort to tame the beast. I wound up using a Grim Racer 42x55 1.3 pitch prop from one of my Revolt 30's and my Sonicwake's been running great without issue all Summer long. It probably isn't hitting 50+mph but a simple prop change turned it into a fun, fast and very stable sport racer.Comment

Its called the Supersonic3 prop from Dasboata! I just ordered one today matter of fact so I can break my personal best with my SONICWAKE PROBOAT.
My boat is all stock except for a Sonic2 prop swap for my 2nd run to achieve 90kms

hi i got a sonicwake for x/mas. i had lots of problem right out the box .the flex cable unwound, servo stop working, rudder mount bent, the mount for the servo broke, so i upgrade all broken parts .new servo mount. stronger push rod ,25kg servo, ,dual water intake rudder, bigger water lines, ran two line to the esc, added a thru hull pick up for the motor cooling,
So Now the boat sails or runs perfect when turning left. but when turning right the motor seems to sound louder and the boat slows down. i'm new to the hobby 1st boat. and i was wondering if anyone has had this problem with there boat . or is there a fix. Thank youComment

First, I'm new to RC boating...so new, in fact, that I don't even have a boat. Note, not new to RC (have a dozen off-road & on-road racers, a few off-road bashers, and a few crawlers), just boating. I've been researching what boat to buy (V vs cat, and model options), with my current most likely possibility being the PB SonicWave 36. At the same time, as with anyone new to the hobby, I'm somewhat "clueless" in the area of upgrades. I don't plan on doing massive upgrades from the get-go, but I know certain ones should be done as quickly as possible. Obviously, the rudder should be swapped for a dual pickup, such as the OSE Dual Pickup Rudder Blade Kit. Having been involved in RC for a while, I realize that the ESC, motor, and servo should be on that list. I've already figured a Hobbywing Seaking ESC, and probably a Leopard motor (could use suggestions/recommendations), plus either a Hitec or Spektrum servo (again, coujld use suggestions/recommendations...tho, Spektrum servos are known to sometimes have problems with Futaba receivers). Two upgrades I have absolutely no clue about are the prop, and the flex cable. Regarding the flex cable, I'm assuming that the OSE HD Flex Cable would be a good option, but is there any others I should consider?
Now, the primary reason I posted this here, and did it as a reply to your post, is because I was already figuring dasboata as the supplier for the prop, but I feel I don't need something as fast as what MADRCER got...but, when you mentioned, "I also stock props that settle this boat down without quite as much speed buy more enjoyable to drive", that seriously peaked my curiosity. Can you provide the part number (in here and/or via PM)? Better yet, if I werfe to order the flex cable & prop from you, would you be able to install the prop (obviously, for a fee)? That's assuming that the prop can be installed onto the flex cable before installing the flex cable into the boat...again, I have no understanding (yet) of these things...but, I do enjoy taking things apart, and learning how to put them back together.
I do have one final question, which is, indirectly, related to the prop...and that would have to do with the drive mechanism. Is the stock drive "good enough", or would something, such as the TFL Integrated Drive System be considered a good upgrade? Thank you, in advance, to any reply/replies than are given. Looking forward to joining the "water crowd".Comment

If your first boat will be a Sonicwake I would get used to it in its stock format first for at least a while until you get a good feel for it and how things work before spending a lot of $ on upgrades as it's a pretty good boat right out of the box. I had great success with mine on 6s and ran it for a whole season last summer without a single issue however I did not like how it was performing with the stock prop so I changed it for a lower 1.3 pitch prop of the same diameter. See my post #7 above for details.
Dasbota has an excellent reputation for making props so see what he recommends. I have purchased some props from Doctorprops in the past and they are beautifully crafted and well worth wait.
I would not recommend the TFL Integrated Drive System as an upgrade as you are limited to a 36mm motor size. The stock drive train is fine.
FE boats are like potato chips...you can't have just one. Good luck and happy boating.Comment

For the ESC, it's a matter of determining which - 120A or 180A - is the better/smarter upgrade. The price difference between them is minimal enough that I can go either way. I'd think the 180A would be more efficient, and should run cooler, but that's something those familiar with it can tell me. Anyone? The only reason (understanding what little I've learned) I might decide against the 180A is because of the LVW mentioned by a few people (3 years ago), where they mentioned the "low voltage" didn't always work correctly. Has this been corrected (via formats update), or is this still a problem? Between these two ESCs, which would be the better choice? Are there any other ESCs that should be considered (especially if they're better than the Seakings, but not overly priced)?
In regards to the dial pickup, I know I could just install a 'Y' on the stock line, just inside the hull, and then run the lines to the motor & ESC...but, I'd think the dual pickup would be more efficient, allowing the ESC & motor to run cooler. Again, a boater newb...but, having custom-built computers for 25+ years, I do have considerable understanding of "liquid-cooking efficiency". You can still use a single reservoir, but using separate pumps & lines to individually cool the CPU & GPU is the smarter way to go. I can't tell you how many times I've had to convince gamers of this (they typically want the highest-powered, fastest, computers, for the lowest price...and then they want to overclock them to the point of killing the CPU). I'm looking at the boat from a similar perspective - the ESC & motor are, to me, the equivalent of a CPU & GPU. Am I correct in the dual pickup being more efficient, and keeping the ESC & motor cooler?
