Retrieval recovery Boat I made (video)

I have posted this over at couple of other sites so for some of you at may be old news. Figured it could help somebody out like us that got tired of blowing up the raft to paddle out and get there boat. Mod(s) If this would be better located somewhere else please move to that area of the forums. We have successfully retrieved boats over 50 times thus far with only a motor failure, this was due to the design of the motor sitting in the closed PVC tube sucking (or trying) air through, this cause the grease in the stuffing tube to be sucked into the motor causing the failure. Fixed added vent holes above water line to allow air to flow through the PVC and out the motor.

What I have is a retrieval boat I made, its 20" wide, 36" long, and 12" tall. This was built for getting our nitro boats as it also works for my MiniMono, and a buddy's Traxxas Spartan. Its all PVC and floatation is the 6 foot float tube you can buy at pool supply places or WalGreens in the summer, has a 208 oz ebay/hobbyparts servo for a winch that has had the pot modified to continuously rotate. Running a stock 540 can motor and traxxas lipo friendly Esc, using a Hacked GT3B for the controller of all 3 channels, and 3 cell 2200mah battery to run it. Capture trap is window screen with a aluminum pipe at the front for pulling it up even with the winch. Not going to post to many details but if somebody wants to ask I will answer any questions on specs.

Picking up a 6.5 lbs Miss Vegas

Rudder is simply just a tricycle landing gear with the spring cut off and a shaped piece of metal silver soldered on, then a hole drilled straight down in pvc. Using the tricycle horn and bushings.

Pretty quick usually under a minute on our pond, full out this will do around 10 mph with the current miss vegas prop. No need to pump it up like we use to do with the raft we used.

In this video you can kinda get an Idea how big the pond is. (sorry its a nitro boat)

Did you ever make plans or a material list for your recovery boat? I would really like to make one and you have a proven design. Hope you could share it with me?
