5.5 plugs on batteries and harness's

I'm switching everything over to 5.5 bullets from EC5 and started to wonder if it really mattered if I used 2 female bullets on say the lipos or if I should use one male and one female ? The wires on the lipos, harness's and esc are color coded (red/black), so does the plug orientation really matter?

No, it doesn't matter, I have seen both ways, more popular is to have the female bullet on the Positive of the battery (red) and the Male bullet on the negative ( black) of the battery. it depends on your preference. On the ESC side you would have Male on Positive and female on Negative.
Make sure whichever orientation you choose that you use protective caps over the terminals on the battery.

I should say that if you really want to analyze this: both female bullets on battery terminals reduce accidental touch since the body of the bullet is covered with shrink tube.
Having a male bullet on the positive and a female on negative wires of the ESC reduces the chance of polarity confusion. Color coding is nice, but sometimes mistake still happens. I personally prefer the more popular way , the latter method.

I wasn't sure if there was a conventional way to do these plugs or not.
(I do have some protective caps on their way from Teddyboy . Probably should have bought more than I did.)

It seems one can never have enough caps or bullet connectors, lol...
As for a conventional way, I don't know, people who have been in this hobby longer than I have been might be able to give you a definition.

All the batteries I get from hk that have 5.5 stock are red hot female and male on the neg. Having male/female on the batts also makes it easy to configure two 2s packs for 4s connecting the pos of one pack to the neg of the other.
            This is NOT a toy?!?

              Hi guys,

I've one question for you: does switching traxxas plugs on my batteries to 5.5 bullet connectors really matters?

I mean, will I be able to see any difference when boating on a lake? I have 2 boats:

              - stock motley crew (esc 60A) with 2x2s grim racers batteries

-fully modded EKOS C1 with 2 9XL's, 2 120A's, and 2x3s AND 2x4s setups (depends of the conditions) that are all 5000mah and at least 40-80C.

Does it worth the trouble to do it on all my lipos (all are with traxxas plugs and nicely soldered).

              thank you !

Streamlining your set-ups with 5.5mm bullet plugs is a good idea, eventually you will have hotter set ups and more powerful systems with which you should "see" the benefits . If you are wondering what the 5.5mm will do speed wise, the answer is you probably will not see a difference. Most of the time people do it to prevent failure , but not to see a difference. I think the benefit out weights the trouble you are perceiving right now. I have been there as well, but I can't tell you how happy I am with the bullets, not just because it allows better connection, but the convenience overall. There is no need for the "bridge wire", for one thing.
I myself have no direct experience with Traxxas plugs, I understand they have higher amp ratings than Deans plug. Nontheless, IMO I will change to bullets . Just my $.02
