Help me pick out a mini wave jumper with self righting features

So, I'm trying to finish my fleet with a small easy to take with me and run anywhere boat. It must have a self righting feature and be able to travel pretty quickly as well. I'm thinking on a lake in waves, in a smaller pond, in a pool etc.

    I'm considering the following:
Dagger V-hull from HK with a flood chamber, hull is 15" long and seems like it could be nice but maybe not a good wave jumper.

Reef Racer 2- cheap and probably cheap to upgrade to brushless but I've found a ton of scattered information on builds with these with no straight guideline on what to use. I'm thinking 2845 2400kv Leopard/Tacon motor on 3s 1300-2200mAh battery with stock prop and appropriate ESC.

Minicatracing's Mini-eco seems an excellent boat but for the price the reef racer could be excellent as well and cheaper.

I will say I like the turn on a dime features of the mini-eco and the reef racer 2.

Hoping for some input or other suggestions, Thanks guys!

Mini ECO from Minicatracing wins hands down!! I am on a vacation as I type and I have this with me because there are many smaller ponds here in Idaho and the self-righting feature puts my mind at ease.
You can not compare that to a Reef Racer. I had videoed my first run prior to my vacation, the video is terrible as I couldn't see the screen on the camcorder due to the bright sun light, but you get an idea of the speed and jumping ability. It occasionally stuffs ( dives) but I did not have time to fiddle the COG, a bit of lead weight will take care of that.

I also run a Mini Eco, their great little boats but as said they do dive. You will notice they dive when turning right but not left, this is why when Eco class boats are being raced the use an anticlockwise course ( left turns ) so they don't dive. Also take a look at the Atomic Barbwire as this is also a great little boat, personally I think its more fun to run than the Mini eco & fits all the things your looking for.

The mini eco does look to be a great option but I forgot to mention that I was hoping to find something that won't require any hatch taping as I loath nothing more than that. Infact I've taken and designed and built a tapeless hatch for my Pursuit so I don't have to worry about it needing taped. I guess that's why the Reef Racer appealed to me but I'll admit the Barbwire looks extremely promising from what I have read so far! Self righting, nylon sealed hatch, fast, lipo ready. My question is does the Barbwire require the outrunner as opposed to an inrunner for it's self righting capability?

Thanks for the input so far!

I would recommend the Micro Molgi. It is almost considered an aerobatic boat. It has a capacity for a self righting flood chamber and does fun flips and spins over waves. May not need flood chamber for self righting... They available from places in Europe and Tough Racing in Singapore. Tough Racing

Yes Korean, my mistake!! They have cool L & R rotation couplers too for bigger twins. Almost wish I bought the 33.25" mono, cool boat, might be really good for P-mono or P-limited sprint...

                  How Bout The Atomic Barbwire??

In this thread... http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...r-the-grandson - several people mentioned the atomic barbwire, saying things like... "it's self righting, quick, and small".
Sounds just like what your looking for

Here's a vid for you to check out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsLb9...e_gdata_player - kinda sells itself.

Hope that helps you out - happy boating

Ever since Martin mentioned the Barbwire I've been thinking it is exactly what I'm after. My only thoughts after reading up on it is replace the ESC right away and I'll just get another Rx for my FlySky radio which controls everything else I have. I wouldn't mind adding an inrunner one day so that it can be watercooled properly and potentially increase the handeling and maybe speed but I'm wondering does the outrunner provide more torque for self righting or would it not matter?

...after reading up on it is replace the ESC right away...
I'm at Atomik's website - I can see why you would want to replace the ESC straight-away, bet a Seaking 35A unit would fit right in where the stocker is.

I use Tactic radios for all my stuff - land & marine. With you it's FlySky, so heck yeah get another Rx for your FlySky and go have some fun.

As far as the motor goes... outrunners do provide more torque and since there's no under-the-hood pix at Atomik's site, I looked at the parts list. Judging by the looks of the motor & mount, looks like getting an inrunner in there might require a fair amount of mods to the hull. Personally I would just stick with the stock motor, that's quick little boat.

Don't know if you read the note's on youboob - Atomik says... On the box we say 25+ (mph), we clocked a stock boat out of the box at 27.6mph - not too shabby for a little boat like that.

Several viewers asked about batteries... Atomik's reply: "You would not want to use a cell count any higher than 3, but a larger mAh pack can be accommodated. If the battery is too heavy it will want to rock in the water when you turn. A 2200mAh pack is about the max and even then you will notice a wobble."

Taking that info into consideration, I checked HK & HP, looks like 1800mAh is bout the max your going to be able to run in that boat without having handling issues. Next step up is 2200mAh & the weight jumps up to the 210~220+ gram range.

I set 25C as the minimum, 30C preferred, here's a partial list of what I came up with (HK has at least 1/2 dozen to choose from, more if you go 20C)... all these packs weigh around 152~158 grams. FYI: Stock batt is 130.4 grams.

In case nobody knows the Barbwire is the same boat as the Joysway Mono X.

Thanks for the great input there, Pepper! I was thinking the same thing about the 35A Seaking. The motor does seem to be pretty powerful but it is still a fairly cheap motor, I was thinking inrunner for a more aggressive prop and direct water cooling but I suppose there is no need seeing as how it runs very well anyway. I wasn't going to be changing anything but he ESC right away until I could actually measure the hull. Especially with batteries and what could fit in that hull. Interestingly, I looked at the Zippy Compact (Too bad it isn't in the US warehouse) the 2200 mAh Zippy compact 35C is 181g, not too bad really! Beyond that the only thing I can think to upgrade besides what was listed so far is the plastic prop to a metal prop. Looking at the options the closest to the stock prop was the Octura X432. I wondering what kind of difference we would see going from a plastic prop to a metal prop of the same size?

I saw in the RCgroups.com thread that the boat was the same as the Joysway, there's some good upgrade info on there too on what could be done to either boats.

Hears a good video of the setup in the hull of the Joyway super mono x.
That outrunner should have plenty of power and torque if you go with a bigger prop,
But I would look for a three blade to help control unwanted torque roll.

I put a 3 blade prop on my MiniRio brushless conversion and it made ALL the difference in the handling. What size do you think would be best to buy from OSE for this purpose? I was hoping to find a metal one so it lasts but I'll settle with plastic if that's all there is.
